Ecoprint Workshop - Kashan Puppet Museum

This autumn, we paired up with the Kashan Puppet Museum to put together an exciting children's program: the becoming of an ecoprinted handbag, starting from the very beginning - in a cotton field!

Put together by Ash Art & Nature, we traced the entire cycle from bud to fabric - the demonstration of cleaning, spinning and weaving taking place in our Manouchehri workshops. The children then spent an evening with stories about the ancient Hyrkanian forest covering the southern shores of the Caspian Sea while mordanting their cotton fabrics.

The next morning was spent printing our fabrics with leaves gathered from Hyrkanian trees. Once ready, the pieces were then tailored into bags.
