Introducing Design Book One - Noor o Soor
In our mission to make traditional Iranian textile designs available to everyone, we have published our first album of designs from the Manouchehri Textile Collection.
The album features fourteen A3 images of sequin embroidered wall hangings from the 18th and 19th century A.D. next to their carefully linearized motifs. The 28 pages, rather than being bound, are placed in two folders for easy access and use.
The motifs, apart from certain forms (such as the cypress tree) more common in contemporary Iranian textile and craft design, feature elements which, to a large extent, appear to have been eliminated from our current design vocabulary. Easily copied from the album and adapted in terms of their size and use, the idea behind this album is to reintroduce these beautiful elements to creative minds both inside and outside Iran.
